What being an approved provider means

Spelling Stream is published by Monthly Balance Capital LLC, which the Alabama Department of Revenue has approved as an Education Service Provider for the CHOOSE Act. You pay us from your student’s ESA with ClassWallet’s Pay Vendor feature, uploading our invoice, and the funds come to us once the payment is approved. You never pay out of pocket.

When ClassWallet asks for an expense category, the one that describes this purchase is Educational software and applications.

What it does not mean. Approval makes us a provider your ESA can pay. It is not a review of the curriculum: the Alabama Department of Revenue has not endorsed, reviewed or recommended the app itself, and we do not claim it has. Choosing a provider is your decision as the parent.

A license for Spelling Stream Pro to the end of the school year, covering every child profile on your family’s devices. Spelling Stream turns the spelling list your child already brings home into practice, tests and games, read aloud in a voice you choose.

What it costs

US$1.99 a month for each month left in the school year, counting the current one, through June. Bought in September, that is 10 months and US$19.90; bought in July, the full school year, 12 months and US$23.88.

Want a full year instead? Subscribe in the app for US$19.99 a year through the App Store or Google Play. That is an ordinary store subscription: it renews automatically, is paid by card, and comes with no ESA invoice.

ClassWallet adds its processing fee on top — currently 2.5% in Alabama — which we pass through rather than add to. Your invoice works the total out and shows it, so submit the figure printed there and the amount approved matches the amount invoiced.

The license runs to June 30, because CHOOSE Act funds pay only for services in the school year they were awarded for. It is a single charge, not an auto-renewing subscription: when next year’s funds arrive in July, place a new order for the new school year. We do not issue invoices in June, since the year ends before an order could be approved.

Scholarship funds are awarded per child, so place one order for each student receiving them. Each order gets its own invoice to upload and its own paid invoice, both naming that student.

The program reviews your payment on its own timetable. Once it is approved, ClassWallet pays us within 2 to 10 business days and we email your activation link.

Every CHOOSE Act payment is reviewed against the program’s rules on its timetable rather than ours. If a payment is rejected, ClassWallet emails you and the funds go straight back to your ESA.

How to order

  1. Open your invoice and enter your student’s full name. It prints on the invoice and on the paid invoice that follows.
  2. Choose Pay Vendor in ClassWallet, pick Spelling Stream, enter the total from the invoice and upload it.
  3. The payment is reviewed and approved, and the funds come to us.
  4. We email your activation link. Open it on the device your child uses, or type the eight-digit code into the app. Pro stays on until June 30.

Get your invoice

Your invoice carries what the CHOOSE Act asks for. It shows our provider name and address, your student’s name, your name as the parent, the invoice date, the service dates, what the payment is for, and the total due. It is marked payment due, not yet received, because that is what it is at the point you upload it.
Paying by card is not reimbursed. You can pay by card instead and have Pro tonight, but the CHOOSE Act does not reimburse families for anything, so a card payment comes out of your own pocket. Use your ESA through ClassWallet if you want the program to pay. Pay by card anyway.
