Type the words, dictate them, or snap a photo of the list from school. We turn them into games, tests, and rewards they actually want to earn — read in your voice. No ads, no internet, no account.
Your School's Words
Add this week's spelling words — the ones from the Friday test, the ones on the fridge — by typing, voice dictation, or snapping a photo. Your child practices exactly what they'll be tested on, not generic word lists from a database.
Add Words Your Way
Type the words in, speak them with voice dictation, or take a photo of your child's spelling list and let the app read it. All three ways included in the free tier. Then record each word in your own voice so they hear you during tests — not a robot. It's that fast.
Kid-Safe Keyboard
A custom keyboard designed for little hands. Vowels highlighted in yellow so they stand out. No symbols, no autocorrect, no distractions.
Games
Every game uses the spelling list you entered — the words from school, not random vocabulary. Kids don't realize they're studying.
All 7 games included free. Every game pulls from your child's real spelling words — not generic vocabulary.
The Motivation Loop
Every correct answer triggers a burst of emoji — ducks, stars, rockets, unicorns, pizza. Random every time.
Right answers earn stars. Stars are the currency for everything else — kids choose what to save up for.
22 collectibles across Common, Uncommon, and Rare tiers. The rare ones (dragon, mermaid, alien) take real saving.
Three full app themes — Ocean, Galaxy, Candy. Each totally transforms how the app looks. Makes it feel like theirs.
Their equipped sticker becomes their on-screen buddy — wiggles, breathes, and victory-bounces every time they get a word right.
Tie mastery to physical incentives — extra screen time, a trip to the park, ice cream. You define them; the app tracks.
Tests, Tracking, Profiles
Spelling Stream isn't just games. It's a full practice loop with two test modes, a parent dashboard that shows mastery per word, and separate profiles for every kid in the house.
Low-stakes mode for everyday practice — kids hear the word, type it, and get instant feedback if they miss.
Strict mode that mimics the real Friday classroom test — no hints, no retries, one shot per word.
Behind the parent gate. See exactly which words your kid has mastered and which still need practice this week.
Each child gets their own word lists, progress, stickers, and theme. One device, one subscription, no mixing up whose words are whose.
Sticker Collection
Common stickers like the otter and butterfly are easy to earn. Uncommon ones take more stars. Rare stickers — the dragon, mermaid, wizard, alien, and potato — are the ultimate goal. Kids plan, save, and decide what to unlock next.

Custom Themes
Three full themes that transform the entire app. Each changes backgrounds, colors, and effects across every screen — not a color swap, a whole vibe.
Deep navy + neon cyan. Bioluminescent default.
Cosmic purple, starfield depth.
Pastel pinks. Sweet and soft.
You Stay In Control
All settings, word lists, and recordings are behind a parent lock — a math problem, a custom PIN, or Face ID. Your child plays and practices freely, but they can't change their words, access settings, or reach anything you haven't set up for them.
Privacy & Safety
No banner ads. No video ads. No sponsored content. Your child sees only their spelling words.
Your voice recordings and your child's identity never leave the device. They are stored locally and are never uploaded or shared.
No personal data collected from children. No social features. No user-generated content from strangers.
All settings are behind a parent lock — math problem, PIN, or Face ID. Kids can't change words, access settings, or reach anything they shouldn't.
How It Works
Type in the spelling words the teacher sent home. Record each one in your voice if you'd like.
Give your child the device. The parent gate keeps settings safe while they play.
They practice with games, take tests, earn stars, and collect stickers. You check results later.
Our Story
Our daughter had weekly spelling lists and she didn't want to do them. Writing the same words over and over wasn't working. So we went looking for something fun — an app that would make practice feel like play instead of homework.
We found a few, but they were either buggy, outdated, or had gaps that made them frustrating to use. They were the best options out there, but none of them were good enough.
I've been building software for over 20 years. One night outside with the family, I said — I'm just going to build something. So I did. Built a prototype, then put it in front of my real focus group: my kids and my niece. The first version had an early build of Letter Catch. They were all fighting over whose turn it was to play.
At that moment, we knew we were onto something — something kids actually wanted and something parents genuinely needed.
Built For Any List
Spelling Stream is built around the words your kid will actually be tested on. Type the weekly list from school, or build your own list for homeschool, summer practice, sight words, or vocab quizzes.
The core use case. Type Monday, practice all week, ace the Friday test. The whole loop is designed around the weekly school cycle.
Use grade-level lists, sight words, theme words, or anything from your homeschool program. Nothing pre-loaded — full control.
Beats the summer slide. 15 minutes a day with games and tests keeps spelling skills sharp without feeling like homework.
Spelling bee prep, vocab quizzes, IEP word work, ESL practice. If it's a list of words, Spelling Stream turns it into games and tests.
Record each word in your own voice. Kids hear a parent during tests — like a real spelling bee at the kitchen table.
Parent dashboard tracks accuracy per word, so you know which still need work and which are locked in.

Yes. The free version gives you 1 word list (up to 10 words), all 7 games, spelling tests, practice mode, voice recordings, the 9 Common stickers, and the Ocean theme — no account needed. Pro ($19.99/year or $1.99/month, 7-day free trial) unlocks unlimited lists, cloud sync, multiple kid profiles, real-world parent rewards, the Galaxy and Candy themes, and the Uncommon and Rare sticker tiers. No. All core features work fully offline — games, tests, practice, voice recordings, stickers. The only optional feature that uses the internet is Pro cloud sync (text lists only — voice recordings stay on-device for privacy).
Yes. Zero personal data is collected from children — no names, no emails, no advertising IDs, no behavioral profiling. We use Firebase Analytics only for anonymous app-usage events (e.g., which features get used) and Crashlytics for stability — both are consent-gated during setup and configured with COPPA-restrictive settings. Voice recordings never leave the device. The app has no social features, no chat, and no content from other users.
The free version supports 1 list with up to 10 words on a single device — perfect for trying it out. Pro unlocks unlimited lists, Multiple Student Profiles, and cross-device sync, so each child has their own words, progress, and sticker collection across all family devices.
Spelling Stream is available now on iPhone, iPad (iOS 17+), and Android phones and tablets (Android 11+). It works in both portrait and landscape orientation, with a tablet-optimized layout on larger screens.
A Pro feature that lets parents link spelling mastery to physical incentives — for example, "30 minutes extra screen time" or "a trip to the park." You define the rewards; the app tracks progress toward them as your child practices.
No — and that's intentional. Spelling Stream ships with zero pre-loaded word lists. The whole point is that you enter the words your child's teacher actually assigned, so they practice exactly what they'll be tested on.
Three ways, all free: type the words, dictate them with your voice, or snap a photo of the printed list and let the app read it. Pick whichever is fastest.
The parent lock offers three options: a math problem (e.g., 7 × 7), a custom PIN, or Face ID / Touch ID. It re-engages automatically whenever the child navigates to kid screens, so you don't need to remember to lock it.
Apple Family Sharing is supported natively on iOS — one Pro subscription covers your whole family. Google Play Family Library doesn't share subscriptions, so on Android, Spelling Stream Pro instead lets your family log into one account across multiple devices (iOS and Android) to share a single subscription.
Available now on iPhone, iPad, and Android. Free to start — no account required.
